The Dining Philosophers is a nonprofit organization with the goal of providing an online and offline venue for Shanghai software professionals to educate and network with each other on a social and professional basis.
We organize monthly tech talks on the latest software development technologies. Talks are followed by networking event at a local restaurant or bar. See the event calendar for past events.
The name of our group is borrowed from a classic computer science paper written by Edsger Dijkstra. In the paper he describes a thought experiment called the Dining Philosophers. There are 5 philosophers sitting on a circular table thinking and eating noodles with chopsticks. Read about the experiment
